SIKKIM - HIGH ADVENTURE TOURISM |
|
Merely being in Sikkim is adventure
enough – experimenting with the exotic 'soucha' or nettle
soup, waking up in the lap of the Khangchendzonga range,
exploring the mysteries and traditions of the monasteries
and capturing the exotic flora and fauna on camera provides
a range of thrills unreplicated anywhere in as small an
area. But for the die-hard thrill seeker, Eco Tours & Treks
rolls out several options.
Our programmes include treks of various grades of
difficulty, whitewater rafting, camping and jeep safaris:
all of these to remote, unspoilt, unfrequented areas.

WHITE
WATER ACTION :
The latest thrill in Sikkim/Darjeeling is
river rafting on the lower reaches of the powerful
Teesta & Rangit rivers – from a leisurely half-day
trip floating through pristine forests, to three-day
white-water thrills in grade 2,3 and 4 rapids with
overnight camps on isolated sandy beaches.
Adventure aficionados can now have a thrilling wet
splash! The powerful Teesta & Rangit river sparkle
and beckon for some white water action! Three or a
half day of scenic rafting provides an ideal
combination of introspective tranquillity and
tremendous excitement. A deluxe campsite set in the
sandy beaches is an ideal place to relax after
strenuous river runs in rafts or kayaks. |

MOUNTAINEERING:
If you wish to climb on the Singalila and Khangchendzonga
ranges, you require a permit for protected areas that we can
procure for you. Jopuno and Tinchenkhang peaks have been
recently opened up for mountaineer. Sikkimese reveres
Khangchendzonga as the abode of their guardian deity, Dzonga
who is the personification of the mountain. In deference to
the religious sentiments of the people, expedititions to
Khangchendzonga from the Sikkim side have always stopped a
few feet short of the summit. Other mountain peaks are also
worshiped. Discover the Blue Sheep in its natural habitat,
the stark beauty of the glaciers that feed the rivers and
the thrill of being on top of the world, well, almost, but
please remember not to litter. |
